23 Mar Using Instagram for Your Business | Naples Social Media
By now, most businesses with a Naples social media marketing strategy know about Facebook and Twitter. It’s hard to not know about the two most popular social media platforms in the world.
But what about other platforms – like Instagram?
Sure, business owners may know of Instagram, but that’s probably only because they or someone they know has seen pictures shared on the platform (ironically enough, posted on Facebook or Twitter). People know all about Instagram for personal use, but what about for professional use?
Can you actually use Instagram for your business?
Learning about Instagram
Instagram is a photo-sharing and social media networking platform that allows users to share pictures and videos with other users all over the world. You can post your own pictures, or comment and share pictures other people post – which brings the social element into the platform.
One of the reasons Instagram became popular is because it allows you to apply one of many digital filters to the images, which has resulted in an explosion in the popularity of the platform. Instagram has over 300 million active users and was bought by Facebook in April 2012 for over $1 billion.
With 23 percent growth in 2013, Instagram is clearly on the track to social media success.
How You Can Take Advantage
The most obvious application of Instagram for business is to post pictures and videos.
But what should you post?
It can be difficult to come up with photos related to your business that are engaging and entertaining. After all, those qualities have to be there if you want to have success on this platform. For business-to-consumer companies, this is probably easier than it is for business-to-business companies, which means Instagram is better for B2C organizations.
You want to post things that are relevant to your industry and your work, but you also want to mix it up and post pictures that are entertaining, humorous, or engaging in some way. For example, if you’re a remodeling contractor, it’s always a good idea to post pictures of gorgeous homes with stunning kitchens and bathrooms. Likewise, if you sell products, try and share pictures of people enjoying your products, not just the products themselves.
Post pictures and short (no longer than 15 seconds long) videos, and encourage people to comment on them and share them. Direct people to your Facebook and Twitter pages. Use hashtags that are popular and relevant. Follow your followers back. Use a mixture of filtered and unfiltered images.
You can even host a photo contest asking users to submit their own pictures for a prize or reward.
Just think of telling your brand story in a visual way, and you’ll be more successful on Instagram.
